ASM’s Exam MLC manual offers comprehensive coverage of the syllabus for SOA Exam MLC. In its approximately 60 lessons, the following topics are reviewed:
- Survival distributions and life tables
- Insurances
- Annuities
- Premiums
- Reserves
- Markov chain models
- Models for multiple decrements
- Models for multiple lives
- Interest rate risk
- Profit measures
- Universal life
The 11th edition of the manual has over 1300 pages and about 1400 end-of-lesson exercises, including about 475 original and 925 old exam questions, plus about 280 examples and 90 in-lesson exercises. In addition to these exercises, there are ten full-length (30-question) practice exams. An appendix has a cross reference to help you track down lessons corresponding to the SOA 282 sample questions and published 2000 and later exam questions, and there is an index. Many students have found this manual adequate by itself for exam preparation, but the two alternative textbooks for the exam are referenced in each lesson if you wish to use them.
The 11th edition has been updated for the new syllabus for 2012.

Description of Flashcards
- Exam MLC

|
Flashcards help you review and learn important formulas and concepts.
The ASM MLC flashcard package contains about 500 cards covering the formulas and concepts of the course. Each card is categorized by topic, allowing you to limit your review to selected topics. Each card also has a cross-reference to the lesson, page, and formula or table number (where applicable) in the ASM MLC manual, 11th edition. Students with older editions can use the table that is provided in the package to translate the lesson numbers to the corresponding lesson numbers in their edition.
A unique feature of these cards is a rating system, indicating the relative importance of each card.
